The Dwyer Coalition for Military Veterans & Families, Inc. is a national-facing nonprofit proudly rooted in New York State. Born from the Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support legacy, we unite Veteran peer programs, military-connected families, and community leaders to strengthen impact—not just statewide, but across the country.
We don’t run services—we connect, elevate, and advocate for those who do. Our mission is to ensure that every Veteran and family has access to purpose-driven peer support, policy leadership, and trusted community connection—no matter their location.

Where We Came From
The Dwyer Coalition for Military Veterans & Families was born in December 2020 as an informal, statewide network of peer program leaders, Veterans, and family advocates committed to strengthening the Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Project. What began as coordination calls and shared ideas quickly grew into something more—a collective voice for those doing the work.

After years of grassroots organizing and collaboration, the Coalition became an official nonprofit organization in April 2025. While our structure is new, our foundation is deeply rooted in the values that have always defined the Dwyer legacy: purpose, peer connection, and community.

We are proudly built by Veterans, for Veterans—and now operate with a national outlook grounded in the lessons, leadership, and impact of New York’s Dwyer programs.
